I recently had the pleasure of teaming up with Sacramento based fashion blogger, Ruthie Ridley on a unique 60 sec spot for Instagram. The project involved a collaboration with a summer product from L'Occitane in which we would highlight Ruthie's use of the product in a way that represented both brands accurately.
We knew from the get-go that we didn't want a typical Instagram video filled with short boomerangs and stop motion, but rather one that was driven by story and beautiful imagery. To achieve my desired result I ended up shooting tons of 120p slow motion on the Sony A7s ii and made sure to have plenty of soft light around. Ruthie was a total natural and didn't require much directing at all. In fact since the fashion world is not up my alley, she was coaching me!
